Even close people, who now live in Ukraine, barely contain their irritation that on this side of the border, it seems, everything is fine, and we cannot share either their pain or their fears. One of the main reasons for the creation of our duo, KATE&FINE, with Kate, surprisingly enough, is our involvement, our resistance, our struggle. Not everyone knows that Katia's husband was killed in the first days of the war in Kharkiv, leaving behind two children. My eldest son was wounded on the front lines in Donbas just a few days ago, and the younger one was recently demobilized from the war in Israel. Our first joint song and music video, "I'm With You" (watch it on YouTube), is based on the famous composition "Rise Up" by Andra Day, for which Katia wrote new original lyrics: When you're back in the dark, It seems the light has faded in your soul. And beside you, only your dreams, And all there is, is just memories. I just want you to know - You are not alone. I want you to simply feel, that you are not alone. I'll stand, stand by your side. After working on this piece, we decided to form a duo to defend Ukrainian culture with the only weapon we possess: our art. And I believe that both #ChervonaRuta and everything else we might achieve together for the sake of our childhood country will contribute a stone to our collective effort, allowing us to admire for many years how the slender evergreen bush of red rue blossoms on the mountain pastures. We believe that the scattered grain from Ukrainian fields will one day find its way to the right soil, not perish, and from it will grow the bread of future life. There is no place in the world today where there is no war. War is everywhere. We die everywhere, even in our own beds across the ocean, the front lines everywhere, almost in every family. Because the war's egregore cannot be overcome by mere desire and the efforts of the purest souls. But we can give people a song!
